While it’s great if you take care of the basics, such as cleaning the return air filters, you’ll also need to make sure your system receives regular professional care.
Atleast, once a year is recommended Between system checks-ups, you’ll also want to keep an eye and an ear out for any sign that the system might be struggling and/or running less efficiently than it should.
Here are few things you should look out for that indicate a need for attention:
- Lower-than-normal airflow
- Uneven heating or cooling
- Noisier-than-normal operation
- Weak heating or cooling
- Repeated cycling on and off
- Flashing error codes on the indoor unit LED’s
One tip that solves a lot of issues is a power-cycle – Switch the unit off at the outside isolation switch for at least 30 seconds, and then back on – Then set the remote to cool, 18degrees, high fan speed – or Heat, 30 deg, high fan speed And give the unit at least 3-5 minutes to come to life and start heating or cooling. If the unit still doesn’t come to life, then take note of the brand of the unit and whether the indoor and outdoor fans are operating and give me a call, and we can work out a solution.
